Is Teeth Whitening Right For You?
Are you reluctant to smile because your teeth aren’t as bright and white as you want them to be? If your teeth are discolored and/or stained, you will most likely be too self-conscious when it comes to letting people see your smile. If you have been looking for a solution to the problem, we offer one of the more cost-effective and popular non-surgical cosmetic dentistry methods – teeth whitening. However, before you get started, you should determine whether or not you are a candidate for this procedure.
In addition to the at-home or in-office teeth whitening treatments that we currently offer, there are a few things that you should be aware of including the following:
- No adverse side effects – you shouldn’t experience any adverse side effects provided the initial procedure and your at-home follow-up care are performed properly. If there are any side effects it will most likely be a slight irritation of the gums or tooth sensitivity.
- Non-permanent solution – one of the first things you need to realize is that you will have to undergo additional teeth whitening procedures in the future if you want to keep your smile as bright as possible. It is not a permanent solution and if you do not maintain your teeth, you will have to undergo treatment again.
- Not the same type of cleaning – teeth discoloration and staining is attributed to the beverages and foods that we consume. The common misconception is that cleaning one’s teeth with baking soda and/or peroxide will solve the problem. Unfortunately, this is a myth and will not work. In this case, the only true solution is to have your teeth whitened.
- Proper follow-up is required – proper care and follow-up are required, along with the occasional touch-ups, to maintain your smile. Additionally, most dentists will provide you with a kit that you can take home for this purpose.
The end result is that you are going to have a smile that you won’t have to hide and won’t be self-conscious of. You’ll have the confidence of knowing that others will be envious when they notice how bright your smile is.
