Mind The Gaps

Mind The Gaps Summer is here and with it, a great excuse to BBQ! All of the good stuff is coming your way, from corn-on-the-cob to thick juicy steaks on the grill. It all sounds great, unless you have missing teeth.

Missing teeth can cause you to avoid gatherings with friends for a few reasons. If you’re missing teeth in the front of your mouth, smiling or even talking can be difficult. You might feel embarrassed to have anyone see your gaps or hear a change in your speech. If you have teeth missing in the back of your mouth, others might not be able to see the empty spaces, but it can be difficult to chew and you might avoid your favorite foods to avoid the discomfort.

Bye-Bye Teeth

Tooth loss can be caused by numerous things. Some of them are beyond your control, but some of them can be prevented if you are careful. Reasons for tooth loss can include:

  • Poor oral hygiene
  • Lack of dental care
  • Poor nutrition
  • Tooth trauma
  • Grinding your teeth
  • Tobacco use
  • Excessive alcohol use
  • Diabetes

Plus, if you are missing a tooth (or multiple teeth), the teeth surrounding those spaces are at a higher risk of damage and loss. Needless to say, taking care of your teeth should be high on your priority list! Good dental care can go a long way toward saving the teeth you still have and taking care of the ones that you don’t have. If you are missing a tooth, or several teeth, there are many options available to you for permanent tooth replacement.

Bridge The Gap

Dental bridges can be used to cover the gap from one missing tooth. The two teeth around the gap will be fitted with new crowns in order to support the new tooth that will be created between them. Bridges are natural looking and will help give you your ability to chew if they are fitted in the back, or the ability to smile when they are fitted in the front.

Plant It

Dental implants are perfect for one missing tooth, but are a solid option even if you are missing several due to their security. We’ll replace your tooth in a way that looks and feels completely natural. An implant stars with a tiny screw that is implanted in your jawbone. Once the jaw heals, we’ll attach an artificial tooth to the screw that look like a real tooth. No one will know it’s not unless you tell them!

A Better Look

By getting your gaps filled and your spaces closed, you’ll open the door to a new life. You’ll look better, feel better, and have the confidence to smile again. You can eat the things you love without worrying about how it will look or feel, so enjoying a family BBQ won’t be such a scary thought. Bring on the sauce!
